MAINTENANCE DOES MATTER!
The pump is the heart of the skimmer.
It's also the most expensive part of the product.
It's painful when the pump is dead, and you really have to buy a new one to replace it.
To avoid this kind of pain, we can do pump maintenance regularly to prolong the life of our dearest pump.
We have listed some important parts that we need to pay attention to when we are trying to do the maintenance:

To avoid this kind of pain, we can do pump maintenance regularly to prolong the life of our dearest pump.
We have listed some important parts that we need to pay attention to when we are trying to do the maintenance:
- Venturi ( flush weekly / clean monthly)
The connecting part of the venturi and the air hose is often covered by some white substance, that's calcium carbonate(limescale).
It's because the salt water and the air are mixed a lot in here. If we don't clean it regularly, it might be stocked with limescale, and the skimmer would be no function.
There's a recipe to remove the limescale when it's too much and unremovable by brushes or any tools.
HOW TO REMOVE THE LIMESCALE?
|
- Impeller (3-6 months, depending on water quality)
The pump is running at a higher temperature than the aquarium water, so the calcium carbonate can build on the surfaces inside the pump more easily.
Use lemon citric or vinegar (introduced in the Venturi part) to remove the limescale.
Some of the impellers can be disassembled, please disassemble them before you clean them.
- Bearings(Rubber Bushing)
The bearing is necessary for all of the JNS pumps.
You can find them inside the pump.
Keep them clean is important, it can make the rotor move smoothly.
Check if they are still in position every time you assemble your pump back.
If the bearing is damaged or lost, please get a new one before you put the pump back to work.
